Got this off another pro-ana blog and just wanted to post it for enlightenment:
"Of course you're probably thinking "salt will make you retain more water; it'll make you gain weight!". I disagree. The human body needs a certain amount of sodium daily to keep it functioning right (think about it as an essential mineral), so if you cut it out of your diet completely you'd run into some troubles. All the electrolytes in your body would be out of whack. So a bit of salt, especially in a restrictive diet, is crucial since it'll keep your hunger down, help you keep hydrated, and keep your body working well."
